South Walsham Mill Hill postmill stood to the southeast South Walsham St. Lawrence and just to the northwest of the towermill in Flowerdew Lane. The mill had a roundhouse and was built with common sails that were possibly converted to patent sails to power the 2 pairs of French burr stones and boulting mill c.1863.


A WIND-MILL with two Pair of Stones and a Boulting Mill therein, with all the necessary Appurtenances thereto belonging, standing in the Parish of South Walsham in the county of Norfolk, together with the Mill Hill or Piece of Land on which the said Mill Hill stands, being Freehold; now in the Occupation of William Jones under a Lease for 14 Years at the Yearly Rent of £10.

All that POST WIND-MILL with the piece of Freehold Land on which the same is erected, situate in South Walsham Field, in the occupation of John Ostler, the proprietor.
The Mill is in good repair, is well situated for the Bag business and also for an extensive Flour trade, being within half a mile of the navigable river from Yarmouth to Norwich.

A POST WINDMILL with brick Roundhouse and a Dwelling house with stable, warehouse, cart shed and a large garden situate at South Walsham St. Lawrence, Norfolk, in the occupation of Mr. Richard Fowler.
The Mill dries two pairs of French stones and has four patent sails and a self-winding apparatus (new about three years ago).

(sic) of South Walsham in the County of Norfolk, Miller, having been adjudged Bankrupt on the 16th day of July 1868, a Public Sitting for the said Bankrupt to pass his last examination and make application for his discharge, will be held at the said Court at the Shirehall, Norwich Castle, on the 15th day of October 1868 at 11 o'c in the Forenoon precisely, the day last aforesaid being the day limited for the said Bankrupt to surrender. The Registrar of the Court is the Official Assignee and Messrs. W. H. Tillett & Co. of Norwich aforesaid are the Solicitors acting in the Bankruptcy.
