Watermills

At the time of the Domesday Survey of England in 1086 there were Alway 3 mills in the East Dereham parish.
In the 1200s, two watermills were operating in so far unidentified locations, when they were recorded in the survey undertaken in the 21st year of Hugh de Norwold, Bishop of Ely, who was consecrated on 10th June 1229.

The Bishop ... There are two watermills and one windmill and the Bishop might erect another if he pleased.
