Plumstead Road postmill stood just to the north of the Plumstead Road and just to the south of the prison. From various paintings of the Norwich School, it seems likely that this was an open trestle mill.
The mill was later replaced by a towermill.


Wheras in the Night between the 10th and 11th Instant the Wind-mill in the Hamlet of Thorp by Norwich was broke open and stolen from thence a Sack of Flour which weighed about Twenty stone: and at the same Time out of the Pasture adjoining, a light coloured Sorrel Horse
