Rockland
Longs Corner
drainage pump

Rockland Long's Corner drainage mill was a skeleton mill. This type of mill was sometimes used as inexpensive alternative to a brick towermill.

The remains of this one came to light during recent flood alleviation works around the Broad at Long's Corner.  The late Victorian cast iron impeller or 'turbine' housing is now part exposed. All the water lanes have been filled in and there is little trace of the mill structure.
I recall one of the older Rockland locals said there had been more than one skeleton mill in the village.
