Bixley postmill was a sunk postmill and the buried crosstree showed up as a cruciform on aerial photos taken by the Norfolk Archaeological Unit from 14th June 1974 - 8th June 1978.


Crop marks of Ring Ditch with evidence of subsequent use as post mill site (Cross trees trenches clearly visible within the circle). and adjacent linear crop marks.
