Waxham postmill was working in around 1190 and is one of the oldest recorded in the county.

c.1190:
Thomas of Thurne gave windmill to Hickling Priory as recorded in
Harvesting the Air, Windmill Pioneers in Twelfth Century England, Edward J. Kealy
