Thetford Norwich Road postmill stood at Mill Farm in Thetford St. Mary on the south side of the town. Originally, Thetford St. Mary was in Suffolk but became part of Norfolk, probably in 1891.

During most of its working life, the mill was in the county of Suffolk, but Thetford Warren, together with that part of Thetford south of the Little Ouse River - formerly the county boundary - was taken into Norfolk as a result of the Local Government Act of 1888. Possibly with effect from 1891.
