Scottow Mill Common postmill stood at Mill House Farm to the north of the village and just to the east of Swanton Common. The mill used two pairs of patent sails set on a cast iron windshaft to power two, possibly three pairs of French burr stones.


To be sold immediately or at Michaelmas next at Scottow near North Walsham a good accustomed corn WINDMILL with the conveniences of Corn Chambers, Meal Chambers etc. together with a convenient Dwelling House, Stable, Hay House and Orchard lately planted. The whole now let to a very good Tenant on Lease of which five years will be unexpired at Michaelmas next, at the Yearly Rent of Fourteen Pounds.
N.B. The Tenant will quit at Michaelmas if desired.
The premises are subject to a Yearly Payment of 20 shillings.
