Paston smockmill was a small mill situated about 1¾ miles to the south of Paston_Stow_Hill_towermill. The mill used a single pair of 4ft 8ins stones driven by a 22in. stone nut.


Other mill machinery included 33 ft long stocks set on a 13 ft windshaft, a 5ft 10ins. head wheel, a 6ft 6ins spur wheel, and a 3ft 6ins wallower.

WIND MILL in the occupation of Mr. Thomas Sadler, with one pair of 4½ feet stones and going gears complete, fit for immediate use, the whole to be removed within fourteen days from the day of the sale.

To be Sold by Auction by Wm. Pope on Tuesday October 6, 1840 on the premises of Mr. Thomas Sadler.
The MATERIALS of a
WINDMILL taken down and divided into convenient lots; comprising a pair of excellent mill stones 4 feet 8 inc. one nearly new with iron and regulator complete, spur wheel 6 feet 6 inc. stone nut 22 inc. head wheel 5 feet 10 inc. diameter, wallower nut 3½ feet ditto, crown wheel 3 feet 8 inc., nut and flour mill rigger, wind shaft 13 feet long, 18 inc. neck, nearly new, oak right up shaft 25 feet by 12 inc., two stocks 33 feet long, 12 inc, by 9 inc. two clamps 20 feet long, 50 scantlings of various lengths and sizes, weather boarding etc.
Sale to commence at 1 o'c.
