Watercolour c.1935
Watercolour painted c.1935

Dilham postmill stood on Mill Common a few hundred yards away from Dilham watermill and in the mid 1800s was using a single pair of patent sails mounted on a cast iron windshaft to power one pair of French burr stones.

The above painting is allegedly of the mill, however, although the mill was recorded as being open trestle and only having one pair of sails in the early to mid 1800s, a roundhouse and an additional pair of sails could well have been added in later years.
