Shadwell Mill was built and operated in the 1100s when it was known as Schadwell Mill. The mill stood to the east side of the fishing lake with Berdewell's Mill on the west side.


As to the separate fishery belonging to it, (Rushwoth Manor) that  laid in  Schadewell (which is a hamlet to  Rushworth,) and extended from  Schadewell Mill, to  Berdewell's_Mill, in  Herling-Thorp on the south side of the river . . .
