Babingley watermill was in one of Norfolk's lost villages that stood just to the north of Castle Rising near Kings Lynn. The mill was probably becoming derelivct by 1377. Three extents were made during the 1200s and 1300s. An extent was a valuation of a debtor's property made for the Sheriff before the execution of a Distress Warrant.

For the lost village of Babingley we have three early extents.
In the reign of Edward I (1272 -1307)
Another full extent was made in the reign of Edward II (1307-1327). It mentions arable land producing wheat & rye, pasture, enclosed meadow marsh & heathland. The products included salt, peat, turf and wood and there was a windmill.
The third extent is in the reign of Edward III (1327-1377) ... The windmill was in ruins and there was an old watermill.
