Christopher Southgate. - 1829 to 1848

Christopher Southgate was married on the 5th February 1829.


MARRIED

Thursday last, Mr. Southgate, millwright, West Pottergate-street, to Elizabeth, daughter of Mr. John Wales, of Haddiscoe.

Christopher Southgate was listed in Whites' Directory of 1836 as a millwright in Rose Lane. He was in partnership with Thomas_Howard and William_Gaze in 1839. In 1841 census, he was given as a millwright aged 45-49 living in Rose Lane, St. Peter Mountergate with his wife Elizabeth, 35-39. He was listed in Blyth's Directory of 1842 as living in Rose Lane. Howard, Gaze & Southgate were listed in White's Directory of 1845 as millwrights in Back Street, St. Paul's. Christopher Southgate was also listed as a millwright living in Rose Lane.


Christopher Southgate died on 10th February 1848.


DIED

Thursday last, in the 54th year of his age, Mr. Christopher Southgate, millwright, of St. George's Tombland, greatly respected by all who knew him.

Christopher Southgate widow remarried on 16th October 1851.


MARRIED

Thursday last, at St. George's Tombland, Mr. Trivett Allcock to Mrs. Southgate, of Tombland, widow of the late Mr. C. Southgate, millwright, of this city.
