Samuel Gaze - 1832 to 1833

Samuel Gaze was born between July 1762 and July 1763. He married Elizabeth Shackle on the 26th December 1787 at St. Saviour's Church. Bride and groom were both single, of this parish and the witnesses were William Shackle and Abigail West.

They had the following children:- Samuel, born 1788; Elizabeth, born 1790; Robert Richard, born 1793; William, born 1795; Margaret, born 1797; Mary Ann, born 1800, died 1800; Mary Ann, born 1802. All the children were born in St. Saviour's.


Elizabeth Gaze died on the 16th March 1832 and is buried in the Old Meeting House Church in Colegate.

Samuel Gaze died on the 2nd July 1833. He was living in St. Peter Hungate at the time of his death. In his will dated 8th September 1832 he was described as a millwright. He left an estate including 5 tenements or dwellings in St. Michael at Thorn to be shared equally amongst his 5 surviving children, Robert Richard being deceased at the date of the will. Samuel Gaze is buried in the Old Meeting House Church in Colegate.
