James Fitt -1810 to 1841+

James Fitt (1) was first mentioned in 1810, when he went into partnership with Cornelius Briggs Jr. and William Balls. Much of his story can be traced under William Balls’s entry. He was listed in Pigot’s Directory of 1830 as trading at premises in New Lakenham. In 1841 he was given as a millwright aged 50-55 living in Scott’s Yard, Ber Street with his wife Ann, 55-60, daughters Hannah (33) and Harriett (32) and also Robert (3) (a grandson?).
